Preserve is a shared, long-term mission for Karl Ohlemann and his wife: help people and organizations address conflict earlier, find appropriate expertise, and preserve what matters.
Founder
Karl Ohlemann
Karl Ohlemann is a founder-operator, CFO, and technology-systems strategist whose work spans company building, finance, governance, operating systems, automation, and applied AI.
Preserve is a long-term, family-rooted passion project for Karl and his wife. It responds to a recurring problem: the warning signs and possible pathways to resolution often exist long before a partnership or institution reaches litigation or public crisis, but the evidence, expertise, and accountability needed to act are rarely organized in one place.
Their interest comes from personal and professional experience across business, institutions, community, and family life. The recurring concern is that opportunities for a healthier response often exist before conflict becomes a crisis.
Karl brings more than 25 years of founder/operator and finance leadership experience. He is an American Bar Association member and has attended the Northwest Dispute Resolution Conference from the perspective of a business owner. His contribution is grounded in leadership and operating experience; he is not presenting himself as an attorney.
MIT applied AI work
Preserve as an AI-transformation use case.
Preserve served as Karl’s applied AI-transformation project in MIT Sloan Executive Education’s Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy program, completed in March 2024.
The final roadmap focused on a manageable use case for improving organizational performance through AI-assisted assessment and operating workflows. Instructor feedback praised the proposal’s clarity, realism, stakeholder value, professional organization, and actionability, while recommending a more detailed phased timeline.
Brian Charles, Head Learning Facilitator, described the Preserve roadmap as a clear, realistic, and actionable AI-transformation plan with a strong focus on organizational performance.
This academic work informs Preserve’s development. It does not imply that MIT endorses, certifies, or operates Preserve.
Digital infrastructure
The .preserve namespace.
Preserve controls the .preserve Web3 top-level domain through Freename, minted on Polygon. The namespace may support future branch identities, credentials, continuity structures, or other authorized uses as the ecosystem and Preserve model develop.
It is an owned infrastructure asset, not evidence that those future capabilities are currently operating or of a formal partnership with Freename.
Current focus
Turn the vision into a disciplined model.
The present work is developing the intake experience, professional-network standards, sector-specific applications, and a bounded pilot approach. BlackBoxx.ai supports the technology and workflow foundation under development.
Preserve’s wider vision includes businesses, partnerships, churches, public institutions, nonprofits, healthcare and financial systems, and families. Its proposed capabilities and network are not yet available as a live client service.
